I used to swear by Norton Anti-Virus
from Symantec. It had never let me down once since version 1 came out
for DOS more than 20 years ago. I now recommend NOD32
Antivirus from Eset.
They run circles around the competition when it comes to detecting new
viruses that never have been seen before. By the time that someones
infected computer
emails you a problem virus, it's really nice to be already
well protected. If you can not afford to spend $39 for the first year
of NOD32 or wish to provide at least some level of protection for
non-critical systems there are two very good freeware anti-virus
programs available. Avast free
antivirus from Alwil or Download.com
and AVG free antivirus from Grisoft
or Download.com.
It is my opinion that they are as good or better than most other paid
anti-virus programs. If think that your system may have been already
compromised, you should at least run the 30 day
trial version of NOD32
to first assure a known clean state before downgrading to the lower
level of protection from another antivirus programs. |
